Bigg Boss's seventh season finale took place Saturday
night. While the channel has been able to keep the buzz going and the audience
involved, this season, we were surprised when through the day there were
congratulatory messages on social media confidently claiming Gauahar Khan to be
the winner. While people of India were busy spending their money sending smses
for their favourite amongst the four finalists, they were obviously oblivious
to the fact that the winner in reality seemed to have already been decided and
that reality television was in reality not that real. The channel insists that
these are just speculations. Whether what they say is true or not, one thing is
for sure - Reality TV is not that real. We believe it does not take away from
either the popularity or viewership of the show by being honest, though it may
reduce some mobile revenues.
It's completely because of fans that have enjoyed watching
Gauahar inside the Bigg Boss house. She has been a very strong contender from
the beginning and made it to the end, surviving all evictions. Social media
responds to buzz and speculates every year. Lots of people kept saying Tanisha
will win and some Sangram. Everyone has their favourites. The winner or loser
of the show is in the hands of our viewers. As a responsible broadcaster we
follow a very fair selection process where the results and tabulated and
declared by Ernst & Young.
