Award winning director Chandra Siddhartha and
Sumanth have teamed up for the family entertainer ‘Emo Gurram Egaravachu’. Thai
actress Pinki Savika is the heroine of the movie and M.M.Keeravani has scored
the music. The film has been produced by Poodhota Sudheer Kumar and it has finally released today. Let us check out this film and see if
it is worth a watch.
Story
Bullebbai (Sumanth ) is a simple guy who has only one ambition in life. He
desperately wants to clear his 10th Standard exam, at
least on his 15th attempt. He has a good heart and lives in a small village in
East Godavari.
Neelaveni (Pinki Savika) is Bullebbai’s maradhalu and she is an NRI who
comes to her native village for a visit. Her parents want her to get married to a guy from a well settled family, from their
own caste. Neelaveni rejects many prospective suitors and this angers her
parents.
To escape from their pressure, she decides to get Bullebbai. Her parents are
shocked, but they eventually agree to the proposal and the
wedding takes place in style. Bullebbai soon realises that he is in a
marriage of convenience.Bullebbai and Neelaveni travel to USA and Neelaveni makes her intentions
very clear. She starts looking out for her Mr. Perfect and finally decides to
marry a handsome and rich Indian doctor. She gets engaged to the doctor, as a
hapless Bullebbai looks on. However, Neelaveni soon realises that the kind
hearted Bullebbai is the one she really loves. What will Neelaveni do now? Will she break off her engagement? What will
Bullebbai do? That is the story of ‘Emo Gurram Egaravachu’.
Sumanth looks good in the film. Pinki Savika looks ok and she has given a
decent performance. The film starts off on a pretty
decent note and things are good for the first 20 minutes or so.Thagubothu Ramesh and S.S.Kanchi have tried to infuse some humour into the
proceedings, with limited success. Annapurnamma and Harsha Vardhan have very
limited roles, but they have done what is required of
them. Keeravani has tried to elevate the film single handedly with his good
background score and music.
The story of this film is quite outdated and stale. After the first 20
minutes or so, the film starts nosediving and the graph never really recovers.
Bad direction and poor screenplay add to the woes.Sumanth is a guy who is most comfortable with restrained and mature performances. In this movie, he has gone over
the top with his artificial energy levels and unconvincing Godavari
accent. One wonders why he donned the lady getup for the song as he looks very
odd in that outfit.
Despite her best efforts, Pinki Savika clearly looks uncomfortable in the
role of a Telugu girl. What was the need to go for a Thai actress? There is
nothing in the story that justifies this decision. The movie never manages to effectively engage viewers at any point of time.
There is a huge disconnect between the film and the viewers and the outdated
plot is probably the reason for this. For a plot like this to work, good
entertainment levels are mandatory. In this movie, the entertainment quotient
is almost zero.
People expect good emotions and thought provoking sequences from Chandra
Siddhartha. This movie does not have any of those elements.Cinematography is pretty good. Editing is not up to the mark. There are a
number of jump cuts and the transition is not smooth. Keeravani’s background
score is very good and he has single handedly lifted a few scenes with his
work.Chandra Siddhartha’s direction is a disappointment. This is not the kind of
film one would expect from an award winning director.
‘Emo Gurram Egaravachu’ ends up as a very predictable and outdated film.
Very slow pace, lack of entertainment and some bad performances will work
against the movie at the Box Office. If you are a Chandra Siddhartha fan, you
will be sorely disappointed.
